Pro-radical complexes for imaging

The development of novel imaging agents permitting targeted detection has been an elusive target for the past decades.The specific targeting of damaged or cancerous tissues could permit early and careful detection, a massive improvement for treatment. Our group focuses on an innovative approach to targeted medical imaging whereby the application of lanthanide or transition metal complexes containing redox sensitive ligands (pro radical ligands) will allow redox sensitive imaging of reactive oxygen species known for their presence in cancerous tissues.
