X-Ray Structures of Copper(II) and Nickel(II) Radical Salen Complexes: The Preference of Galactose Oxidase for Copper(II).
Two radical complexes [M(SalOMe)]+SbF6- (M = Cu, Ni; SalOMe is formed via condensation of 3-tert-butyl-5-methoxy-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde with (1R,2R)-(-)-trans-1,2-diaminocyclohexane) were obtained by oxidn. of the neutral precursors and their structures were characterized by x-ray crystal anal. D. functional theory(DFT) calcn. showed that the SOMO is mainly localized on one side of the mol. in copper radical complex and fully delocalized in nickel radical complex. Galactose Oxidase activity of the two radical complexes was also studied. [on SciFinder(R)]
