Trapping of superoxido cobalt and peroxido dicobalt species formed reversibly from CoII and O2.
The formation and spectroscopic characterization of a superoxido cobalt(III) and a peroxido dicobalt(III) species formed in the temp. dependent reversible reaction of a cobalt(II) precursor [CoL(MeCN)2 where L = 1-(2-Pyridylmethyl)-4,7-dimethyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane] with O2 is described. The electronic nature of each species is explored in their reactivity with org. substrates. [on SciFinder(R)]
