Tracking gold acetylides in gold(I)-catalyzed cycloisomerization reactions of enynes.
The intermediacy of Au acetylides in the Au(I)-catalyzed cycloisomerization of enynes was questioned. While dinuclear Au complexes are obsd. under electrospray ionization conditions, the soln. reactivity of Au acetylides also leads to the conclusion of their high affinity for the 2nd coordination of a Au moiety, leading to dinuclear Au complexes. However, the involvement of Au acetylides and the corresponding diaurated species in the elementary steps of cycloisomerization mechanisms of enynes appears unlikely. [on SciFinder(R)]
