A novel dimanganese(II) complex with two chloride bridges - A two-electron oxidation system.
A new kind of binuclear $μ$-chloro complex of manganese with two bpea ligands [bpea = N,N-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)ethylamine] was synthesized and structurally characterized. A thorough electrochem. study shows that this complex exhibits a two-electron reversible oxidn. leading to the stable dimanganese(III) complex. The crystal structure of [Mn2($μ$-Cl)2(bpea)2Cl2] shows that it exists as a chloro-bridged centrosym. dimer. The magnetic properties of the complex were also studied. [on SciFinder(R)]
