Manganese carbonyl terpyridyl complexes: their synthesis, characterization and potential application as CO-release molecules.

MnI carbonyl terpyridyl complexes were synthesized and characterized. The tricarbonyl deriv. exhibits interesting behaviors for controlled CO-release by both thermal and photosynthetic pathways. The prepd. complexes are fac-[Mn(terpy-$ąppa$2N1,N2)(CO)3Br] (1a, 1), fac-[Mn(terpy-$ąppa$3N1,N2,N3)(CO)3Br] (2) and fac-[Mn(terpy-$ąppa$2N1,N2)(CO)3(MeCN)] (PF6) (1b, 3). [on SciFinder(R)]
