Electrolyte based on fluorinated cyclic quaternary ammonium ionic liquids.

Ionic liqs., ILs, based on fluorinated pyrrolidinium and piperidinium ammonium cations and imide anion were prepd. and characterized. The physicochem. and electrochem. properties of these ILs including m.p., glass transition and degrdn. temps., viscosity, ionic cond., and electrochem. stability were detd. and compared to alkyl pyrrolidinium and piperidinium ILs. The incorporation of a CF3 group instead of a CH3 induces an increase of the IL viscosity, thus a cond. decrease. However, good ionic cond. was obtained with fluorinated pyrrolidinium IL. Cyclic amine ILs with Pr alkyl chain or fluorinated ammonium exhibit very high electrochem. stability toward oxidn. The effect of the addn. of LiTFSI on the IL properties was studied with the same methodol. [on SciFinder(R)]
