Electrochemical Interconversion of Mono-, Bi-, and Tetranuclear (Bipyridyl) Manganese Complexes in Buffered Aqueous Solution.
Electrochem. behavior and interconversion of mono, bi, and tetranuclear bipyridyl complexes were studied in aq. bpy/bpyH+ buffer (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine). Careful controlled potential oxidns. allow the selective and quant. formation of the high valent oxo complexes Mn2 {\{}[MnIIIMnIVO2(bpy)4]3+{\}} and Mn4 {\{}[MnIV4O6(bpy)6]4+{\}}, resp., for the mononuclear {\{}[MnII(bpy)3]2+{\}}. Assocd. electrochem. back transformations also were studied. [on SciFinder(R)]
