A \Cu2S\}2+ Mixed-Valent Core Featuring a Cu-Cu Bond.}
The prepn. and crystal structure of the 1st mixed-valent Cu dinuclear complex with a {\{}Cu2S{\}}2+ motif [L(Me)SCu2](CF3SO3)2 (L(Me)S = 2,6-bis[[bis(pyridylmethyl)amino]methyl]-4-methylmercaptophenol) [1(CF3SO3)2], which contains a Cu-Cu bond and displays a high degree of delocalization is reported. 1 Is characterized by cyclic voltammetry and ESR and its charge transfer transition discussed. D. functional theory (DFT) calcns. were also performed to refine spectroscopic assignments and to confirm unambiguously the Cu-Cu bond. [on SciFinder(R)]
