A calixarene-based copper-centered redox switch as a data storage prototype.
A new Cu redox mol. switch based on a calixarene possessing both imidazole- and quinoline-like fragments (L = I) displays, through an exchange of ligands triggered by an electrochem. input, unexpected long-lasting stability of both the redox forms, as well as fast reversible cycling. Thus, the prepn., cyclic voltammetry and crystal structure of the two redox forms, [CuI(L)]PF6 and [CuII(L)(H2O)](ClO4)2 are reported. [on SciFinder(R)]
