An Air-Stable Oxyallyl Radical Cation.
Here the authors report that stable carbenes can also be used to prep. org. paramagnetic species. It is also shown that oxyallyl radical cations, which were hitherto believed to be only transient intermediates, only observable by mass spectroscopy or in a glassy matrix at 77 K, can be isolated at room temp. and are even stable towards air and moisture.
